About yourself

… I am a software engineer, living in Nürnberg. I see myself as a jack of all trades. Currently working close to embedded systems but with a wide background.

Interests

  • Homeserver, Self-Hosting, Container Orchestration
Starting with my last day-job I got into infrastructure provision using docker. Since it got me hooked, I continue doing that using butane configs and Makefiles to provision machines with Fedora CoreOS.
Seeing no need, I try to stay away from Kubernetes.
  • Rust
I found great joy in dabbling with Rust. My homeserver uses a small exercise-project to keep its DNS records up to date. I also experiment with bevvy and glicol.
  • Technical Writing
I just enjoy a clean, crisp and pretty documentation.

Skills

  • Programming in C/C++, Python (Flask, Sqlalchemy), Rust
  • Using Debian/Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch Linux (and some peeks into NixOS)
  • CI/CD using Gitlab, starting to look into forgejo-runner
  • Container/Infrastructure using Systemd, Quadlets and Fedora's butane. Some (aged) OpenStack experience.
  • Basic to intermediate Networking/HPC/Datacenter Administration

Motivation
I want to contribute to Codeberg mainly to put my skills to wholeseome use, find community and engage in Free and Open Source Software. I want to develop my skills, preferably in Rust.

I have a particular interest in the new codeberg pages project since I recently have been thinking about a similar project for myself.

Interests

  • Software development
  • Community support
  • Public Relations
  • Infrastructure
  • Organization (team meetings, events etc)
  • Other (see text above)

Quick checks

  • I… work on a project on my own
  • … join an existing team
  • … start something new
  • … learn something for yourself
  • … dedicate a steady amount of time
  • … work on a project for a limited period

Hey there, have you joined our Matrix rooms (specifically 'Contributing to Codeberg')? I might have an idea or two that we could discuss - alternatively, it's also fine to do it over this issue tracker.

Hey! I tried to join #contributing-to-codeberg:kle.li as suggested here using several clients, to no avail. "Either room/space is private or doesn't exist."
(Edit: I see, it's beeing worked on #82 😌, just joined the room)

I joined Pages Server v3 Development room though and was added to the repo, currently looking into that.

Still curious about your ideas :).
